Bas Melech is a full service performing arts center located in the heart of Pikesville, MD. Our mission is to provide a private, fun and exciting outlet for women, girls and boys to explore their talents, learn new skills, improve physical fitness, and enhance their self-esteem through socialization, collaboration, and exposure to the arts. We encourage our students to gain self-confidence, feel success in their achievements, and help enable them to reach their potential and flourish.

Bas Melech is an equal opportunity establishment. On Sunday through Thursday we have open gym hours for kids to come and play. Our gyms are a huge indoor playground for active children, teens and young adults, open to the public for a nominal fee. We offer many free events to the public thru out the year. We have several in house performances, and exciting exercise related events that are publicized and open to anyone who wants to attend. We have thousands of children and teens from diverse backgrounds participating in these ongoing events at our facility.

With over 500 children, teens and young adults registered for weekly classes, and thousands using our facility thru out the year for fun activities, we have structured our offerings to ensure that there is something for everyone. The large array of weekly classes include gymnastics, ballet, dance, tap, yoga, ninja warrior, parkour and other exercise related classes. We also offer pre-teen STEM programming as well as classes for the special needs population. Our classes are led by professionals who teach techniques while providing the children, teens and young adults with an incredibly fun outlet and boosting their self-esteem.

Our 10,000 square foot facility boasts over $250,000 worth of equipment and is an incredible place to spend time! Our very popular gymnastics classes cater to all levels of skill, from beginner through advanced. Once a child has mastered the skill for one level they progress to the next level so they can be with children, teens and young adults of a similar skill skill set.  We have classes for children, teens and young adults who do not yet know how to turn a cart wheel, as well as classes for children, teens and young adults who are doing multiple back handsprings across the floor, tucks and aerials!

Our central defining purpose is to ensure that each child feels like they can shine. Our coaches are trained and qualified to teach all levels of skill. Our gym staff includes USAG certified and level 10 competitive gymnasts. Our dance instructors are trained and certified. All our coaches are highly experienced, professional, and work hard to help each child reach a potential and be successful.

Our ballet and dance classes are held in our state-of-the-art dance studios featuring a floating wood floor, airy spacious rooms, and wall-to-wall mirrors. Dance classes are run by professional dancers with dance degrees who bring years of experience to the table, having taught at other prestigious dance academies across Baltimore. At the end of the year, students perform on stage in a beautiful theater in front of a large audience. The professional costumes, sound and lighting system create a breathtaking performance. Our shows are videotaped professionally and are available to prospective parents who want to see what Bas Melech classes can accomplish for their children, teens and young adults.

While Bas Melech classes are enjoyed by everyone these classes can be life altering for a child who is struggling academically or in other areas of life. We recognize that it is vitally important for each child to feel successful children, teens and young adults who are in need of occupational or physical therapy will often register for our classes upon the recommendation of their doctor. The results have been astounding. These children, teens and young adults make incredible and quick advancements in our fun, colorful, and upbeat facility. The parents find that these classes do wonders for their kids physically, socially, and emotionally.

Bas Melech is a nonprofit 501C3 organization dedicated to serving the children, teens and young adults of Baltimore. We strongly believe that every child deserves a chance to succeed. To this end, we award about $10,000 worth of free classes yearly to deserving children, teens and young adults, enabling them to benefit from all we have to offer.
